Insight on ED deferrals?

It sounds just as likely that the regional admissions officer was against your kid but didn’t want to say that. I think it’s highly unlikely that the person would say “I” didn’t like x or y when directly asked by the college counselor.

I don't think it's possible. If the regional AO doesn't support the application, it won't get to the committe. If the application doesn't get to the committee, it's impossible to get a deferral.

It was about an extracurricular!

I trust other schools didn’t have the same evaluation with this extracurricular, whatever it is about!

9-10% is about double the acceptance rate for RD. Yes, it’s worth keeping it but not worth dwelling on it.

I’m fascinated by this thread because my kids’ CCO (also private) told me (last year) that AOs won’t take those calls anymore and won’t share any information about decisions. I believe fewer do know than in the past, but also think they were being dishonest with me — and lazy. They just don’t want to bother.

They definitely still take counselor calls.

Yep. I think we're at the same private. They say that schools won't take calls but other high schools make them for many students.
