| I wear the ones I have. Nothing keeps you as warm as fur when it is 0F out. Mine are all vintage. |
Men can wear fur coats. |

My mom was big into fur and then it went south as a fashion. She gave them all to me.
There were like 6-7 of them. One I remember was a long silver fox. I recall giving one to an older secretary at work (passed away now) who was thrilled. She was the old school kind whom everyone called 'Mrs. Smith' at work and never by her first name. They were more her generation. Last one I donated straight into a trash bag was a the nicest one, a mink, but I just didn't see it being anything I would ever wear in this lifetime. Can't recall what happened to the rest of them. At the time I lived in the Back Bay in Boston near one of the Kakas & Sons locations, the wife-murderer Charles Stuart worked for them. They don't exist anymore. |
In his day, Joe Namath actually looked FINE in a fur coat. But that was 50 years ago when men were also matching their white belts to their white shoes. |
When I was in Russia for a while in the early 90s there was nothing my mother liked better than to open the balcony doors in her bedroom when it was below freezing and sleep underneath a giant sable coat. There's nothing quite like it. She swore by it being good for her vocal chords. |
| They’re so tacky. It’s a bygone era for sure. |
| Ask your nieces before discarding/donating. Vintage fur is popular among college age group. |
Must be hard being you. |
| I'm assuming the vast majority of the people responding are not vegan. So killing an animal to eat it is totally fine but you MUST throw away the fur becasue it's horrible and unethical to use every part of the animal you killed for food? I don't get the outrage. It's just dumb virtue signaling. |
Only if they A) are in costume B) want to look like a 70s era pimp and C) enjoy being laughed at. Didnt he say he was getting rid of his mother's coats? He's definitely not interested in these options. |

Are you under the impression that was a witty comment? I have a coat made out of rabbit fur. I eat rabbit meat. Would you like some recipes? |
I’m vegan and I have furs from relatives who were going to discard them. That feels so wrong. |
I'm actually a witty vegetarian, so no. |

OP, I have a similar situation. I have a few from family members. I don't like the feel of them and even if I did, they don't fit me. You can donate them like any other coat, you can try to sell them to a furrier (or see if they will take them if it's not for the money), some local artists will take them and turn them into other clothes, decor, or PETA and other places will take them to donate.
I feel mine were cared for, but not as well as they should have been - I don't think there is much monetary value. They weren't stored at a cleaner for example. But it feels weird to throw them away. |
