If you could add one school to your kid's list ..

Bucknell because DCUM tells me there’s a direct pipeline to Wall Street

threads like this stopped being helpful when DCUM "went national." the interlopers from outside the DMV who have all decided to come here have ruined the site

I'd probably say Williams; it's the number 1 lac and really is better than the rest. I wish DD would consider.

I really thought Oberlin was going to be a great fit for my student and their junior year visit was so well done, but my kid wasn’t feeling it (very skeptical of the idea of living in Ohio, which I kind of understand).

What does it matter to you whether the parents who are wishing are in the DMV or not? That's kind of crazy.

The mod already explained his philosophies when you complained before and he told you that this forum has had a more national reach for a long time.

The parents who are from other places have helpful info. And many of them used to be in DMV.

I also notice that you are still here despite the ruination.

The World Wide Web is just that - worldwide.

Yours always,

My child added Stanford as his final application,"pipe dream" school last year. He attended a top private high school with grade deflation but had a 4.0 UW under Stanford's flattening of grades (A minuses are viewed as As).1580, top rigor, very strong extracurriculars but not an Olympian or international award winner or anything jaw-dropping like Stanford tends to like.
He wrote the most beautiful essays and the application was just AWESOME. It told a story, it made him seem incredibly appealing, etc. It was his best college application work by a mile.

REJECTED. Not even waitlisted. So much for the dream.

Ouch. A friend of mine is an alumni interviewer for Stanford. He said he talks to unbelievable kids -- perfect grades, winners of international competitions, musicians/athletes at the highest levels -- who end up flat out rejected all the time. Know that it's a numbers game, not your kid.

Any school within an hour of our house. I hate that he’s likely going to be far away but I’m not going to force the issue.
