Elizabeth Warren! and, hey, I'm a harvard grad so I get to complain |
You are close. The same study lists UVA as top 3 public. |
| JMU was ranked and Virginia Tech was not. |
Strip out graduate law and business and I bet it would be similar to other public universities. |
| Harvard is miles ahead. It is 15 points ahead of Stanford at #2. Duke at #15 is only 1.7 points ahead of the #100 school. |
The study by Time was for undergrad. Same for USNWR which also ranks UVA no. 3 public. Your unique problem is??? |
Let’s not forget 44. HOWARD 105. CUA |
My unique problem in this case is that you are wrong. The study by Time includes graduate programs. Just look at the data columns. Time includes "relevant subsidiaries" where schools where leaders attended are listed. For Harvard it includes Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Law School, Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. These are all graduate schools. For UVA it included Law, Darden, Medicine, all graduate programs. |
DP - And those are positive, relevant subsidiaries to the overall evaluation of the institution re the analysis. For example, UVA students (and in-state) get a preference to its no. 4 law school. How on earth is that a negative? The university (undergrad) is consistently ranked no 24-26 of all colleges and universities in the U.S. and no 3 public. It is a great value. The fact that it has a great medical school, law, business, McIntire, etc., is just icing on the cake, and helps its undergrads. I've never heard anyone say if you strip out the graduate school UVA itself falters. |
Will you first admit that the PP was wrong rather than immediately switching fields? I am just trying to make sure this is properly interpreted because many people are just applying this to only to undergraduate in their mind. Harvard Law and Harvard Business would likely be top 5 on their own if separated out. |
At the same time, UVA sucks in STEM. UVA might have half the students of Cal and UMich, but then again they are ranked lower here as well. Once again, Berkeley and Michigan are the top publics in this country |
UVA is not ranked in the top 25 and is, at best, the #4 public. |

Local list corrected:

Georgetown is ranked above Princeton?? |
Negative leadership points for Ted Cruz? |
