What did you bring to a “Favorite Things” party?

I’d bring:

Garlic rocker

onion cutting glasses

small zip-up travel jewelry case https://a.co/d/2DEfATe

Years ago, when Terra Chips first appeared, I did the same. Chocolate-covered espresso beans and packages of dried cherries are other small indulgences like this.

If I went to a party like this, I might bring an egg cooker appliance. They are great for making soft and hard-boiled eggs. Much more convenient than stovetop pans.

I like your food finds.
Do you have any current ones? We have a "I tried it so you don't have to" thread on the food forum that would be perfect for you if you are an early finder of great food items!

I wish I had some new ones. I just took some of these TJ items above to my kid at college. I also sent TJ sugar cookies shaped like stars with a raspberry jam dot in the center. My kid said his friends liked those. But I haven't tried them myself.

I'm pretty sure I talked about the Topo Chico water on DCUM a few times.

Instead of having batteries strewn all over in junk drawers they now have one place to belong. So last year when invited to a favorite things party, I brought the battery organizer.

Nearly all the other items were either foods, drinks, or makeup products. But the battery organizer was a big hit.

Ha! My dad gave me one of these a few years ago. It's his favorite thing.

If there are older people who travel, this is a hit

A Vera Bradley pill organizer https://verabradleyoutlet.com/products/essential-travel-pill-case-5082920341?variant=43737945866284&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PMAX-Shopping-VBOO-Accessories&utm_content=pmax&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21733356936&gbraid=0AAAAA95N6787qvst4Km0pD3izByIO19ns&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4_KRusPnkAMVzFn_AR3wihkzEAQYBSABEgJH6PD_BwE

I am the last one to get something from Vera Bradley, but this is the best. I just tuck it into my carryon bag and I have an extra week of meds. It works for OTC meds too.

How do you order this in the US?

Luxardo cherries

This silicone cooking turner: https://gir.co/products/ultimate-turner?variant=42206026531012

Nice vanilla beans or vanilla bean paste. I recently got this for about $20 in the warehouse:

A "big" baggu: https://baggu.com/collections/big-baggu

+1 to whomever said TJs seasonal items, in particular their Belgian cookie tin.

This is what I'm thinking about doing. I'm hoping they have one of those seasonal tote bags and I can put my "favorite" things in the bag, which would be a lot of seasonal things. Otherwise I might do my favorite things for a charcuterie board with a bottle of wine. Limit is $50 so a little more to spend.

This is the way to do it. It seems like some of the people in this thread would just go find some random things, but you’re supposed to actually vouch for what you like, like a walking life testimonial of a product.

I’ve been to a number of them but usually we do a limit of $15. One year I brought my favorite pair of cozy socks since the party was in the winter. One year I brought small plants in cute planters. My favorite gifts I’ve received have included a nice journal, a bottle of someone’s favorite inexpensive wine and this decadent treat. https://bigspoonroasters.com/collections/nut-butters

To the PP who asked how they work basically you bring four of the same of your favorite item. Usually it becomes like a white elephant or similar where you might pull names and give your gifts to four others, explaining why it’s your favorite thing. At the end of the evening sometimes people end up trading stuff but it’s a fun way to get together.

If you have to buy 4 are you then spending $60? Why does everyone need 4 things, why not just 1 each like. white elephant?

It's slightly different than WE parties

How do you know what size to bring?

Skip the undergarments. Try other items they or other stores like them sell, e.g. sleep mask. If you don't find anything, how about a gift card from there?

You absolutely can't bring a gift card to a "favorite things" party. That's counter to the whole point of the party.

I was wondering that, too. At a small party with five people everyone could bring home everyone else's favorite things. But at a bigger party, how do you decide who gets what?

Cosmetics: eye cream, hand lotion, sparkly eye liner, lip balm...

A votive size candle (Thymes Frasier Fir is my big treat to myself)

A glass nail file

Fresh flowers (or a plant) - you could get nice mini orchids or pointsettia

Foods/candy

Portable battery or charging pad for phone

gloves, socks, scarf

cleaning cloth for eyeglasses

a great pen

a game (everyone gets bananagrams!) or deck of cards

ornament

If someone brought candles I'd want to kick them out of the group. But you also know your group best. I personally hate smelly candles.

I'd do skincare. Something you use and love. Either a nice face sunscreen, or a nice serum you like. $20 is a little tricky because some of the fancy ones are expensive.

I also like the game suggestion. Our family is always looking for fun new games to play, so we'd use that for sure.

I think I'd do a travel size of L'occitane hand cream ($10) and then do my favorite novel that I've read this last year.
