Gray's Town Hall Meeting in Ward 3

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I suggest you move to either Ward 7 or 8, where you'll have a highly disproportionate amount of tax dollars diverted from other wards and spent on you, along with an entitlement to a job working for the city, irrespective of whether you are qualified for the job.

Enjoy!

Have you any idea what a bigot you sound like?

For context, that's from a white, long-time, Ward 4 resident, who has never worked for the City, has always paid taxes, and never received welfare.

I know Adrian Fenty, I like Adrian Fenty, and although I did not vote for him, I think he would be as disgusted with such comments as I am.

Wow. Sir. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to step out of your pro-Fenty hatred vehicle. Clearly, you have hijacked it for your own insane purposes.

Fenty raised nearly 5 million dollars. Seventy-five percent of that money were donated by people and corporations located outside of the District of Columbia. The majority of his campaign chest came from donors in NYC. Does it bother you that NYC residents and companies were attempting to buy and influence the lives of Washingtonians?

WHAT???!!? How did I miss this? np here. Can someone help me find a link to the most coherent donation info on the Web, to verify this?

I don't know if all those numbers are correct or not, though they seem believable. The best source for campaign finance info is DC's Office of Campaign Finance. You can search contributions here:

http://ocf.dc.gov/dsearch/adv.asp?type=pcc&paymenttype=con&searchtype=rec

Just enter "Fenty 2010" as the Committee Name. I didn't feel like adding everything up, but there were pages and pages of maximum donations from New York. So, the claims above could well be true.

Exactly.

Fenty raised over $5 million. Does anyone not think he is as much, if not more beholden to developer and other interests as the alleged Gray/Union connection? If you look at choices of school closures and disposition of other public lands over the past 3 and 1/2 years, you will be relatively shocked at who "got what" and at what expense.

No, I have absolutely no idea that I sound like a bigot.

Vince Gray has taken bigotry to heights I could never attain, beginning with his early campaign remarks that he wasn't saying that Fenty's building of dog parks "was racist, but. . . "

Thanks for that suggestion, Vince!

Look, as the Post pointed out yesterday, Fenty has done absolutely nothing to discourage this write-in campaign. All he would have to say is knock it off, and we'd be gone. Why do you think he has not said it? Why do you think Fenty ignored Vince's plea to show up and support him at that travesty of a listening session?

I'll tell you why: It's because many of us, including Fenty, think that Vince is the racist. Which he is.

So, if and when you manage to get Gray's dick out of your mouth, come back and say something sensible. Because the race card? Ain't gonna work.

However, as the poster who suggested that Jeff has a crush on Gray and should ask him out, I must say that image of Gray's dick rammed down Jeff's throat really resonated with me. You actually made my day. It is true that Jeff has lost all objectivity where Vince Gray is concerned. Love is blind.

Vocational Ed lover: My point was not that vocational education is bad and, no, Vince did not actually state his opposition to a traditional, vigorous academic education that will make our children competitive for college. However, when someone makes a speech, and stresses first that he considers his DCPS education to be of the highest caliber, and then goes on to stress the importance of technical education, vocational education, special education, and community college -- while saying nothing at all about the importance of a sound academic education, one can only draw the correct conclusion.

And if you think the public schools in Ward 3 are good, I want whatever you're smoking. Some of the elementary schools within Ward 3 are good. However, I wouldn't send a lab rat to any of its middle schools or high schools. I absolutely agree that every child within DCPS should receive a good education and, with Fenty, it looked like we just might get there.

Now we have Vince, who wants to ram his dick down the throat of every child within DCPS who has dreams for college.

People, this is not fear-mongering. This is true, primal fear.

Write-in Adrian M. Fenty come November 2. Don't let Vince Gray ram his dick down your throat, too.

There is something deeply wrong with you.

Yes, indeed there is. The prospect of Vince Gray syphoning the resources of every college-seeking, law-abiding, educated, tax-paying, hardworking person in this town and spending those resources on never-ending entitlement programs scares the crap out of me.

If it doesn't scare the crap out of you, it is time to come off your meds, as they are making you numb to reality.

Jan,

Please call Adrian and tell him you need him to come over and help you get your head on straight. You're too much for me to handle at the moment. I'm going out for a run.

Signed,

If one where to move to DC and read this blog, they would think that Ward 3 residents are the most ignorant uneducated people to ever walk the earth. I know that is not true, but that is how you sound.

For the person who said they would not send their rat to any middle school in Ward 3, well I know a lot of very happy parents at Alice Deal Middle School who would be completely offended by that comment.

I worked for Adrian Fenty. NOT an impressive guy. No, I did not get fired, but I was completely disappointed by his leadership. Do you actually know any of the directors outside of those top 3 you hear about? No. Most people don't. Have you seen some of the unqualified people he's tried to appoint to boards and commissions? I came to DC to work for Fenty and voted for Gray in the election. Gray reminds me more of Anthony Williams - kind of sterile and a policy wonk. I love talking to the guy because I feel like their is a brain in there.

Please stop all of this fear mongering. The funny thing about this list serv is that I doubt many of you would write such crazy things if you had to post your real name.

If you hate Gray so much, MOVE! Who cares. The housing market in DC is great. I'm sure you can get a great price for your house.

Nope. I'm staying right here, where I will continue to fight for what I believe, thank you very much.

So, you were on of the ones whom Adrian Fenty treated poorly, and now you're bitter. Well, guess what? I know people who worked for Fenty; I know people who saw you being treated poorly by Fenty. They think you deserved it. Fenty treated them very well. Why? Because they're competent.

That's the reason why Fenty lost the election: He fired the lazy and the incompetent.

And the lazy and incompetent elected Vince Gray -- someone who promised to represent their interests and who will do so, if we do not take dramatic action to stop him.

And what, exactly, did the people of New York expect from Fenty in return? How are those donations at all analogous to those of the teacher's union, who have made it very clear to Gray what they expect -- and better get -- in return?

Foaming at the mouth is not "fighting for what you believe" unless what you believe in is rabies.
