What's your net worth?

$6m, 48 and 45.

But only 2.5m is liquid. There is about 1m in real estate and 2.5m in private company equity that I have no ability to sell (or, no ability to influence when it is sold).

So it doesnโ€™t feel like nearly as much.

Net worth $8.5 million broken down (roughly) as follows:

Retirement accounts $5.4M
Home equity (two homes): $1.8M
Brokerage accounts: $1.1M
Crypto/Cash: $200k

Mid 60s married couple, wife was SAHM and husband was single earner now retired for 10+ years. (Net worth was $4M and change at retirement.) Adult children long fully "launched" with children of their own.

What form is the crypto held in?
Are your retirement accounts still growing despite withdrawals?
What age did you begin taking withdrawals from retirement accounts?
Were you living off the brokerage before you began tapping retirement accounts?

The crypto is half Bitcoin and half Etherium. We bought it during the pandemic just for fun. An impulse thing involving money we knew we could afford to lose, but so far so good. No plans to sell.

We haven't withdrawn from retirement accounts yet, but probably will start doing Roth conversions. So yes, they've grown quite a bit.

Yes, we've been living for the last 10+ years on our brokerage account and other post-tax accounts. We also elected to take social security early, and that brings in $46k a year.

About $2.4 million without including home equity or 529s. About $4 million including that. Late 40s.

35 and 32

3.7M NW not including 529s

I donโ€™t really track it, but a quick calculation suggests about $2.1M.

Lots of poors reporting here. Thought the numbers would be higher

8M in late 30s including home equity -- $7M invested w/o home equity. 600K HHI and I am the only earner at the moment while DH starts a new company.

How can you not know your total net worth (which includes a spouses NW as well)? I get if you desire separate finances, but how do you not at least have a clue?

Well, that's not very smart of you. At all. You can keep things separate, sure, but you should at least know what you have together. How can you plan your retirement not even knowing what you have?

Well aware. I can't really. I'm not advocating for our approach; we're incompatible and holding on by a thread. I track my net worth as if I were single because I don't know how else to deal with it. I monitor their credit, as the breaking point is when they are racking up nonconsensual debt.

So more importantly how can you remain married to someone like that?
