It was a huge day when you went to go order yours and picked out the customizations and everyone had their special unique bits of flair and personality. And you could letter in so many things, so it wasn’t just jocks. It was fun to have most in the school wear it on game days, spirit days, etc. My kids aren’t in high school yet but it is kind of sad they don’t do that anymore.

What.the.hell. You mean like lettering in what--band? Chess club? Ugh.

The marching band letter was coveted and those kids worked hard.

True. My son was the starting quarterback and also lettered in basketball and baseball. But there's still a little scar in his heart where a marching band letter should have been.

While they sold both letterman jackets and class rings, none of us bought them. I vividly remember one kid wearing his jacket, the rest of us never bought them. We all looked through the class ring catalogs and declared them ugly and didn’t buy them.

Quite right. So ugly.

I also remember them being very expensive for what they were. I think one company sold all the rings--Josten's?

Josten’s is still in business apparently and the class rings are just as gaudy as they always were! https://www.jostens.com/jewelry/class-jewelry/high-school/?rcrdu=395

Bring back letter jackets, class rings, graduation announcements, pep rallies, and school spirit. I feel sad for today’s high school students for whom school is merely a grind.

Too many movies have come out portraying jocks and associated things like letterjackets as dumb and jerks
