many of the aupairs overstay and fail to leave so they are committing crimes
We've hosted 9 au pairs and not a single one has overstayed or committed a crime. They have lots of friends who we've met and all have also been entirely legal and returned home at the end of their visa.
Literally every single AU pair I've known except for one has overstayed their visa, become a nanny, then gotten married.
I don’t think people realize that they aren’t overstaying their visa. The few former au pairs know have then switched to student visas and then pursue degrees, so they are here legally and looking to get educated and make a better life for themselves. If you have a problem with that then maybe you’re not a nice person?
