I answered earlier (Southeast Alaska), but I forgot about Napali Coast - I'd put the two as a tie. Both breathtakingly stunning.

New Mexico doesn't get talked about much but Taos is beautiful

Take your breath away places exist is so many parts in western states whether national park or not.

I just can't get down with anything east of Chicago. There's actually really interesting places in TX too and charming down south but few and far in between out east.

Agree that the west is beautiful, but here's some eastern locations worth seeing;

The VA Piedmont, Middleburg, Monticello, Nelson Co ("Walton's Mountain" area)

Cunningham Falls MD

The Finger Lakes region/Letchworth State Park NY

Vermont in fall

Maine in summer, particularly Acadia National Park and its environs

Assateague National Seashore

Cape Cod National Seashore

Hunting Island, SC

The Florida Keys

Mt Rainier

I prefer Black Canyon of the Gunnison to Grand Canyon in comparison of beauty.

Jackson Hole and the Tetons in early fall when the Aspens are turning color, the crowds are lessening and the weather is great. Yosemite and Yellowstone are also beautiful.
