What skills has YouTube taught you?

My recommended YouTube channels in parentheses (YMMV):

Decluttering strategies (Dana K. White)

Personal Finance and retirement planning for early retirement (The Money Guy Show; Ari Taublieb, CFP; Holy Schmidt!; Joe Kuhn; Streamline Financial; Rob Berger)

Skincare (Dr Dray; Hot & Flashy)

Planning for South Korea trip (K Guardian Angel)

Attachment theory and healthy relationships (Thais Gibson, Matthew Hussey)

Medical issues (Dr Eye Health; Your Friendly Proctologist)

Physical Therapy (Bob & Brad)

Wigs and wig care (GodivasSecretWigs)

I find YouTube premium definitely worth it for no-add and downloading capabilities

Great topic, OP! Thanks!

I'm a big fan of listening to Dana K White's podcast when I'm trying to declutter.

OP back.

We put back together an 18 piece wooden Burr puzzle that had been sitting in a shoebox of shame for 20 years. Thank you YouTube guy!

How to crochet as a left-hander. My grandma tried to teach me years ago but I couldn't get it watching her do it right-handed.

How to use features on new appliances

Zero. First, I prefer reading to watching videos. Second, I don’t trust that every YouTuber is actually an expert on what they are doing.

Saving puzzles successfully or crocheting nicely doesn't exactly require professional licensing or certification, and the videos can be more helpful than illustrations.

Leadership classes - I got a certification from online Cornell and all of the videos are on YouTube so I assume that counts.

I took some other college classes on YouTube. One about the constitution, another leadership class.

How to fix my dishwasher

I took some Adobe classes.

I’m in IT and when technology changes I go to YouTube to learn. For example, I watched a video on the difference between Iaas, Saas, PAAS, etc

How do you know the person writing your book is an expert?

My kid had nursemaids elbow and the urgent care doc said to pop it back into place myself if it happened again because it’s an easy fix and I could cut out a lot of pain and suffering for my kid if I didn’t have to wait for a medical professional to do it. He showed me how, but it was months later until it happened again. I searched on YouTube and there was a video that showed a women doing it to a child. It worked. I used that video a couple more time until I’d done it enough that I remembered.
