MAGA really is a cult

This country is a scary place. I don't know how American democracy devolved into a choice of two cults devising ever more flagrant and foolish lies with which to divide the masses while the party leaders loot the economy for their oligarch masters.

Defining women is not part of the Democratic platform. And in fact the trans activists were upset that it wasn't even mentioned during the 2024 DNC convention. https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-politics-and-policy/dnc-2024-missed-trans-rights-implications-election-rcna167990

So that's a #bothsides fail. Constantly bringing up trans people as the main reason why one hates Democrats is also a fail, in fact it's far more a confabulated Republican attack point than it is a Democrat support point.

Well said. The Dems have no leader and therefore no platform. When they do and/or if they did currently have a platform it would include equal rights and opportunity for all which includes trans rights.

So, how exactly do you explain the identical positions Democrat politicians have long taken on everything from Joe Biden's crystal clear clarity to every aspect of the trans agenda being a human right to the nonexistence of an undocumented immigration crisis...and how they all pivoted at exactly the same time to suddenly "discover" Biden's impairment, even more suddenly "discover" there is indeed an undocumented immigration problem (that they then blamed on Trump), and decide that the once life-and-death trans agenda should now be decided "locally"?

All these Democrat politicians' identical positions and identical pivots at the exact same time are just random chance and coincidental to you, huh?

Dems made a poor choice with Biden, got rid of him as soon as they could, and now have a clean slate. The moronic GOP nominated Trump three consecutive times and will be dealing with his stain for at least the next election cycle and likely beyond.

This is a non affiliated with either party outsider telling you BIG advantage for Dem candidates in elections through at least 2028. GOP talking points that won them the 2024 election will be useless by the 2026 midterms. We already know how this story ends. History repeating itself.

The use of the "Democrat" epithet is automatically disqualifying. I didn't read anything the PP wrote after that invocation.

Clean slate in whose eyes? Do you have any evidence that voters' disgust with Democrats is gone?

All Dems need in order reclaim viability is for a legitimately presidential candidate to step up and through the door into a party leadership role. The GOP has to have Trump walk out through their door before a legitimately presidential candidate can bring them back to viability. The Dems are basically no one right now and of course that makes them unpopular as a whole. It just takes one person to change that dynamic and the Dems are one step closer than the GOP to changing that dynamic.

If you can't understand this very basic political science equation, you probably shouldn't be embarrassing yourself on political forums.

It really is a cult. "I could shoot someone on 5th ave and not lose support." I really really think he was not joking.

I just watched the documentary about NXIVM sex cult, and even when the proof was right in her face, she did not, could not believe it. It's hard to pull people away from a cult. I fear they are lost forever.

DEI has all the markings of a religion.

Yeah. The religion is "Christianity."

Christ taught inclusion, even the lepers, prostitutes, and tax collectors

Christ taught that all are equal before God

Christ taught justice and compassion, and condemned systems that oppress the poor and the marginalized, and called for mercy over judgement

My definition of MAGA would simply be people who have never wavered from their support for Trump in three consecutive elections. 90% of these folks are long standing GOP loyalists who would be voting for any Republican candidate in those same three elections. Those folks aren't cult like. They simply refuse to admit they are wrong. There is a similar phenomenon with loyal Dem voters who will never admit to making a poor voting decision.

And then there are the 10% of the loyal Trump supporters who weren't necessarily Republicans or politically active prior to 2016 who you could justifiably classify as cult-like. Those people exist but they don't make up the majority on either political side.

10% one might be able to fit into a basket perhaps?

I'm not calling those people deplorable. They are mostly just stubborn and misguided people. There are deplorable people in this world but politics have little to do with why they are deplorable.

The fact that they are deplorable is expressed through their choices in politics.

In that case, 99% of us are deplorable.

99% of us are not racist, misogynist idiots who want a White Christian nationalist autocracy.

True but a very large majority of Americans are "deplorable" via "their choices in politics" as the PP says.

That’s not even remotely true.

They DO actually have an extensive and detailed platform. https://democrats.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/FINAL-MASTER-PLATFORM.pdf

I guess when you don't have anything intelligent to say about the actual platform you either pretend it doesn't exist or just make shit up about what it doesn't say.

Nope. People who listen to the vile things Trump says and cheer that on are deplorable. It's one thing to make actual suggestions for improving our immigration system. It's another thing to demonize immigrants as all being rapists and murderers who are eating the dogs and the cats and to send illegal immigrants away to random countries with no due process. It's one thing to talk about increasing efficiency in our government and to do things to actually find and stop fraud and it's another thing to brand all federal workers as people committing fraud and fire all the people who were actually doing the work to find and stop fraud. It's one thing to talk about balancing the budget and another to cut Medicare so rich people can have tax cuts.

Trump's policies are not just bad, they're unnecessarily cruel. People who support him cheer on lies and cruelty because they like it. They are deplorable. They don't deserve a pass.
