Grinnell

Grinnell is very a very prestigious school. Not acknowledging this is just silly. BTW, the town/location is not nearly as bad as people make it see. Also, flights are not an issue. Don't forget about Cedar Rapids airport. Very convenient and daily flights from DCA.

The word you are looking for is “empathy” and “conscience” not “woke.”. People who bang on about “woke” are the same people who snicker about Alligator Auschwitz and frankly the people with brains and hearts are sick of your idiocy and selfishness and anger.

When you say “woke” i put you in the same bucket as Marjory Taylor “them libruls are controlling the weather” Green.

Also, Grinnell is an excellent school.

Just so you know, when you bang on about "empathy" and "conscience," we put you in the same bucket as every other hypocritical, self-righteous sufferer of Bethesda Guilt.

As LBJ said, you can blame my mom - she raised me to be a Christian.

Grinnell attracts applicants to the middle of rural Iowa from far and wide, including a large international student population. It is able to do that because of its superb academic reputation and large endowment, which allows it to give out a whole lot of merit aid. I don’t believe any similarly highly or more highly ranked liberal arts college is that generous.

The idea that all of those students need to go to Chicago to get a job is laughable. And while it’s definitely true that its graduates. typically don’t go to Wall Street, that is clearly because Wall Street is not anything that interests them. And that’s a good thing.

Awesome school, just as good of an education as any of the top east/west coast LACs but you can actually get merit aid there making it a great value.

Complete BS. Economics is its second most popular major. They have an interest, but they aren’t getting very far, even with Buffett’s support.

Buffett’s support? Man, you are a total idiot. Buffett hasn’t had anything to do with h Grinnell since the 1980s. He was on board because he was friend of Joe Rosenfield, who ran Grinnell endowment. He hasn’t given them a penny and has said that it was a peculiar place.

This whole threat is so lame. I am a Grinnell grad. You get a great education there. The very best grad schools all know Grinnell. You are treated by admissions as being on par with anyone, Harvard included.

But most people haven’t heard of it. And the Harvard, Duke, Stanford crowd will think it’s a community college. Whatever. Jokes on them.

This doesn’t ring true to my experience as a Grinnell alum. Knew plenty of economics majors but only one wanted Wall St. He went and did very well. But it’s true that if you actively want Wall Street you might prefer Williams.

Kids from my North Shore of Chicago school went to Grinnell in good numbers. Several of them are now physicians, and doing pre-med there seemed to make sense to a serious student who could take advantage of a small environment. I was in the top 10 of a class of 800 and my impression was that the Grinnell kids were by and large better students than I was. I was an All State and All American athlete and remain skeptical of the A’s I received. The school had a vested interest in moving me up. Defeating the dumb jock stereotype kind of thing. Kind of a side point but my Grinnell bound classmates were very bright and I respected them.

After graduation, I worked in Iowa trading ag futures. It paid for a top law school, in cash. I might add though that the drive from Des Moines back home in the winter on I-80 could be really cold. And I liked cold weather. Used to stop at truck stops just to get warm. Stopped at Grinnell and I liked the vibe. Made me wish I was not reliant on athletics to go to college. One just had to be prepared for the cold - it is no joke.

Iowa a great place to live once you hit 30. Am Iowa State U economist who taught me trading told me that he liked it once he got a partner in the community to integrate. Probably not relevant to the Grinnell students but the adults in the town treat students well. Different for sure.

Put me in that bucket any day over hanging out in the trash can with with Steven Miller, Russell Vought. You are on the side that enabled and supported white nationalists and a militarized police force that is terrorizing people with no regard for the rule of law. There is no coming back from that for you. You say “woke” and we see you for who you are.

No, the word is still "woke". The same bucket as Judge Ketanji "I can't define what a woman is" Brown Jackson.

That’s not the flex you think it is. But way to go right to attacking a Black woman. The hoods are all coming off.
