I'll toss out Kristin Chenoweth at the height of her career. Watch her "Glitter and Be Gay", she threads this very specific needle of delivering this insanely difficult piece of music with acting and hamming it up.

Thread has gotten away from OP’s premise a bit, to bring it back I will suggest Anthony Kiedis, who is definitely not the best singer but an amazing frontman. |
To OP’s Hendrix, wouldn’t Jim Morrison + Joplin also apply? |
I’ll add prince, MJ, and Madonna |
Stevie Wonder. Seriously the live performance is just stunning - his voice and the complexities of his music make for an incredible concert. |

The Lead Singer of Panic at the Disco.
BTW I saw MeatLoaf in Concert way back around 1990s and he was amazing. |
Not Poster but I saw Billy Joel in Concert in 1977 Was literally his second large concert. What is amazing is on his second concert it was sold out and they filmed it. See link below. He was 28 year's old and already the headline act playing original music that he wrote himself. My brother and I too young to drive so we bought out of our part time job money three tickets and convinced our Mom to drive us to show which she did and she came in and saw show. First and only rock concert she ever went to. Watch the video. He is performing back in 1977 with zero special effects, auto tuning nonsense of today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKnVopmm2Q4&t=3150s |
