Grade discrepancy and how to handle it

Have you ever considered that your little angel baby is lying and trying to manipulate the system. Take the grade and stfu. Teachers are abused and many times parents, admin, and students gang up to mess a teachers career up for some good old fraud numbers.

Depends on the school system’s grading policy. A review could reveal academic dishonesty, for example.

So many defensive responses coming from teachers. Sorry, in general, I do believe they're overworked and deserve better pay, but a lot of them are ... not that great. I had my fair share of wacko HS teachers.

I think you should push a little bit; like others said, it can't hurt. I am really confused by this grading system you talk about though. Also, you say the way she weighted things made a difference. But like, you know if she weighted things fairly, it would have definitely resulted in the higher grade?

All that whining for nothing. I would guess there was no error, you both misunderstood and the finalized grade said it all.

What? That makes no sense. OP said the grade was raised. Sounds like the teacher was in error and fixed it

It’s maddening but I would drop it. If it’s public, definitely drop it it’s pointless. If it’s private, still drop it bc even in the unlikely event that something changes you and your kid will have a rep and that could definitely result in subtle (unconscious even) dings for him next year.

Also, if you pursue it you are missing the chance to have the very important talk that is essentially “sometimes people (like teaches and bosses) aren’t entirely reasonable or unbiased/this is a good chance to learn how to approach it when that happens (which it inevitably will) and also a good lesson in how you want to be when you are the one in power.”
