Open bedroom window while kids sleep - this is on the Second floor - How much of a safety concern?

Op, put light sensor with camera towards window.
This is for your peace of mind.

Sleeping with your bedroom door open is not fire safe.

OP, when I lived in New England, I had a two story house and no ac. I left the upstairs windows open from Memorial Day until Labor Day!

Dh cut a piece of wood to put in the window track to keep it from being opened wide-it was open enough to allow air flow but not enough to climb through. But an intruder would have to first arrive with a long ladder and climb it if they wanted to get in, so it wasn't really an issue anyways.

Some windows open from the top down also so that is an option.
