Yup. I remember in the 1980s skipping the 79 cent coke for water. The 2 piece fish and chips with a side was $1.99 and they wanted 79 cents for a 12 ounce paper cup of soda with ice.

Some things they make a huge profit, some things they take a huge loss. Drinks and salads make them big profits. A/C and free bread are huge losses. It has to balance out, and the restaurant business operates on a very thin margin. Don't get look at their property taxes, business taxes, fees, licenses, bribery, extortion, etc. they have to pay. |
