Lilo and Stitch remake

No adults are picking Lilo up from class or organizing play dates or babysitting. So of course Nani can't handle all that by herself and it's ridiculous to expect her to do so. She's just a kid herself.

I also found the original so upsetting. This family needed help and instead everyone was out to get them it felt like. And I didn’t like how they were always fighting with each other. The music was good, and some of the messaging was good, but the original movie stresses me out.

You should avoid Disney movies. Mothers often die, children are taken to woods to be killed, there are terrible fires and horrible people mistreat them.

Never saw the original until yesterday w/my fourth grader. Had no idea this was released back in 2001. I thought it was super weird-like someone on a cocaine binge wrote it. Why did the alien guy sound like he has a Russian accent? I thought the Elvis tie in was cute though and the plot reminded me a little bit of ET.

I was upset about the Nani casting but found the new version pretty entertaining. It was definitely one of the better Disney remakes.

As for Nani leaving to Lilo to go to college, she actually didn't. The movie had a post credit scene that showed they'll always be with each other. I don't want to spoil it but both sisters get what they need.

DD, 28, went to see a 9:45 pm showing last Sunday and it was sold out. She loved it.

She was a little young to see the original in a theater when it came out, but we watched it on DVD. For her, it’s nostalgia. I guess it is for me too.
