The team could add her to their roster now. It happens. |
I’m the poster, not sure what you mean by guest player? We’re in the EDP league though. |

What if you kid is a guest player and going to a larger tournament with a new team? Does that player get to start/play equal minutes/play more/play less?
How does that player get received? Should guest players only be used if the team will be lower than 11 players? if the team roster is 14 and they add 3 guest players, how does that look/playout? My kid guest played once at u12...the team needed players...so not a deal. how does it get handled if a team takes guest players when in general a team has enough to play a game/tournament - but are maybe taking the player to strengthen a position/team? |
I suspect the team just added them to the roster and carded them as a primary. Easiest way forward. |
It happens all the time and it looks and feels crappy. Coaches just want to win. I cant blame a kid being told they are so valuable that they need to play instead of the rostered players, but I would caution parents to see how the coach treats the shiny new thing vs those they committed to previously. |
| Our team (only U9-->U10) invites new kids to practices but not games. That's fine from my perspective. |
| At this point in the season many coaches taking players from the next season to playoffs or finals. They fill the gaps from injury and give an edge to win potentially plant starts team chemistry earlier. Am sure it doesn’t feel great for team members who are moving on / have been shut out for next season but seems pretty common |
