do you think GPA is a "threshold" thing like test scores?

An AO shocked us by acknowledging that the MV Calc teacher at our school is a notoriously tough grader. Pointed out that the GPA doesn't treat a B differently in that class, but they do because they know there are only a couple As given out.

I don't think the average newly graduated admissions counselor knows such things, but the senior ones probably do.

The AO told you this? How did you as a parent meet the AO and under what circumstance they disclosed that?
