McDonalds announces major store change to win back customers

I rarely go to McDs, but the past couple times I have, yeah, it’s terrible. Everything, from the food, the service, the employees, the other customers- just yuck. I needed to order something I couldn’t input into the self serve kiosk, and it took forever to get an actual employee to come to (what’s left) of the service counter. Then they seemed super bothered. The employees all looks unclean and disheveled as well. Even the play areas are crap.

I have fond memories of the 1980s McDonald’s. I went to several birthday parties there as a child and they were really fun! Plus the outdoor playgrounds most of them had were so cool: the hamburglar tower, those characters on big springs you sit in and rock back and forth, the merry go round, metal slides, nice seating to sit and eat lunch. They were nicely done.

Agree that McDonald's has lost sight of their market: kids who need a place to play and eat indoors, and retirees.

I only set foot in a McDonald's when I am traveling and desperate.

That burger-shaped jail was unforgettable ! My grandpa used to take us twice a week. My mother would never take my kids there now because the food, clientele and workers are all so gross.

Same reason why I refuse to shop at Walmart. It literally makes my depressed and grossed out to be in proximity to people like that.

And the stores have become known as hubs of homeless and drug addicts, plus they're all hard plastic and feel greasy and unclean.

I go to Walmart to prepare for camping trips and I call it the tenth circle of hell. I feel like I need a shower after shopping there.

It is disease causing poisonous slop served by low class workers who live on the margins. The stores feel gross and they’re typically full of homeless or druggies.

Places like Shake Shack, Chick-fil-a and Culver’s are far cleaner, higher caliber staff, and seem much more wholesome. I’d also rather grab my kids food at Starbucks than McDonald’s.

Where on earth are you going to MdDonald's if this is your perception? I have literally never seen anyone unhoused or on drugs in any one of the handful of locations I occasionally go to.

The order was 2 Big Mac meals, 1 10-piece nuggets meal, and I got a small Diet Coke and cheeseburger. The meals were all mediums, so no upcharges for large size. The total was $39.94.

The next day we got Potbelly for lunch and 4 sandwiches, 4 chips, and 4 drinks came out to $33.57. I couldn't believe it when I looked and saw that the Potbelly meal was cheaper (and more filling) than the McD's meals.

Yours was more filling because you didn't eat much at McDonald's. There's no way the Potbelly and tiny chip bag was more filling than a Big Mac and medium fries.

River road? Fries are always hot and I can actually get a hot fudge sundae…mmmm…my two favorite things.

This location seems packed at lunchtime (at least in part with Walt Whitman HS students) - the drive through traffic always spills out onto River Rd.
