Why is the credit card reader so difficult for some people?

It's not that difficult.

I can easily go a couple of months without using a credit card reader. I’m good. I have other skills that matter more.

I don't even use my phone anymore, I use my watch. I left it home when I was at the grocery store the other day and had to fumble with my phone.

OP, you might want to sit down for this: Between shopping online and using cash for most face to face purchases, months can go by without my using a card reader to make a purchase.

So when you go grocery shopping, you never use the self-checkout? And you give cash to the cashier?

They must love you.

I've evolved with credit cards too - the old carbon copy to the stripe to insert to tap - and I mess it up seemingly every time. Swipe too fast? Too Slow? Tap in the wrong place? Insert it too early? too late? OP, it's just one of life's little frustrations...

I'm left handed and have found that the tap function works more consistently when you hold the card in your right hand.

Why are they all different??? Why am I asked multiple times to hit the green button? If I didn't agree with the price, why would I stick my card in?? They drive me crazy though.

I remember when you used to have your credit card ran through a reader. I remember when magnetic strips became a thing. I remember when tap-to-pay became a thing. The newest credit card readers aren’t new.

So why is so is it so confusing for certain people? It’s like they’ve never used their credit card before, ever. It’s so streamlined and simple, yet it takes them f-o-r-e-v-e-r. What does wrong?

Every single card reader is different. Every one.

This is why I like to do Apple Pay. Just getting the phone near the reader is enough to make the transaction go through.

Sometimes. All the readers can be glitchy. As can the phones.
