For the trainwreck most of these MDU teams have been, this year has been a huge improvement, Pipeline has the mantle now of "How does this club still have an ECNL team" in MD. Their move to build youth programs and train futsal in their backyard throughout Ann Arunel and PG County is proving its worth as their 2011 teams and younger are quite competitive. Not saying they are playoff teams but 5th gets you in North American cup place from the North Atlantic that is an acomplishment and a step forward. MDU will never be Penn Fusion, PDA Blue, Delco or even Matchfit but they can take players from Bethesda and improve each year if they stay on track

“It’s no fault of theirs?” So basically you’re saying the coaches cant raise and train the talent they have to compete? They have to rely on getting players from better trained clubs to improve each year. Ouch.

Have you seen the monopoly BSC has on the state of MD? There are girls driving from La Plata down south and Bel Air up north to play for them. MDU and Pipeline both can't coexsist with that. Thats all I meant by "no fault of theirs", thats why I gave them flowers for the new approach ove the past 3 years or so to build up surrounding counties; forgot to mention their work with MDU South in calvert co. MDU is figuring it out right when Pipeline has begun a deep dark spiral to market invisibility.

Yes and no. Plenty of DC or lower MoCo kids happily travel to VA to play for one of those ecnl teams. You need to throw Arlington/VDA etc. into the mix.

I don’t think it’s smack or shmack . I believe it’s just a proven fact . They don’t develop who they have they just replace to get better … but actually they never do get better.

Good point, because no other ECNL clubs pickup players from other ECNL clubs. Nope, doesn't happen. You start at 6 and you're there until college at the other clubs except MDU.

No they were not. They were 10-8-1 with only a +2 gd. Even if they were 12-6-1 they still wouldnt have the ppg to make it 4th.

BSC bench has quality and would likely start at MDU but the confidence in the MDU coaching is so low that players would rather choose quality training and tougher competition to more playing time on a team with so little coaching integrity.
