Yes. It is a public school.

So they are expecting to go to this school, which has not yet hired staff as of July? That is a real problem.

Same as MCPS. Classrooms without teachers is typical.

This would be much more severe than normal.

My school has started the first week without some teachers ever since Covid, but we have 100+ other adults in the building who know how things are supposed to function in our building.

This would be 100+ people who know in theory how things are supposed to function in their building, but zero praxis.

The principal was just hired at the last board meeting. I would think her first task is to hire her staff.

I applied for a position with MBLI and have an interview tomorrow. I was advised by another MCPS staff not to take the job if I am offered one.

Whether or not you should take a position depends on how much risk you are willing to accept. If you are ready to leave your current position and willing to accept a placement in the fall if MBLI doesn’t open, then go for it (assuming you like the principal and the goals of the school.

Based on other video didn't they work with the Unions and MCPS to already establish those terms?

I was offered an interview for MBLI, but I already accepted another position. Can't help but think I dodged a bullet.

They said they were planning to but nothing has been ratified

Are the teaching positions unionized? I know in DC charters most are not.

Yes. Members are part of MCEA. There needs to be an updated MOU to cover whatever programmatic differences there are at MBLI, but they haven’t started negotiating that yet. This is part of why MCEA sent the caution to teachers in April.
