The celebrity bad parent Hall of Fame, past and present

Ryan O’Neal easily was the first that come to mind for me.

I nominate Ryan O'Neal, who punched his son's teeth out and punched his daughter Tatum when she won an Oscar; and John Phillips, based on the incest accusations recounted by his daughter Mackenzie.

He also hit on Tatum at Farrah Fawcett's funeral.

How can their kids respect them at all after the things they've done?

Also, Kanye. I think he loves his oldest daughter (despite saying he'd wished she'd been aborted) but is just a terrible parent.

Someone else said Yolanda Hadid, the OG Almond Mom, which I am not sure I agree with. Obviously she was focused on turning her kids into models and had questionable parenting doing that, but every time I see quotes by her kids (the girls only) they seem well thought out and logical. So maybe that's their father's influence or maybe she wasn't always awful.

Denise Richards. I always think something is broken when there's a rich family yet nobody in it goes to college. Her daughter is monetizing her sexuality on Only Fans (as is Denise).

I disagree about college. Lots of people are good people but never went. This is how we got college scandals...rich parents forcing their kids to go when they don't want to and wouldn't get in pn thrir own merits

Let parents who have not messed up in some way cast the first stone.

Parenting is really hard out of the spot light. I can’t imagine how difficult is with the public eye on top of you.

Her kids just aren’t smart enough. Also, Paris Hilton didn’t go to college. Did Nicky Hilton go?

Have always been creeped out by the stories about Thora Birch’s parents. She was very talented and I feel bad for her.

Similarly, whoever Amanda Bynes’s parents are.

If it’s about parents who are themselves celebs, Jada and Will.

Rank these monsters based on a scale from worst to pretty freaking bad:
1) Sexual abuse
2) Physical abuse
3) Physical abuse of other parent/siblings
4) Mental abuse
5) Not sure what happened but the kids are a mess

This may not be a parenting issue possibly - isn't the son a totally normal guy who moved out of LA and has a normal family and manages his money just fine?

Are you thinking of the character she played in Ordinary People?

No. She had a son when she was very young and basically abandoned him. I think maybe her parents, whom she said were abusive, raised him. He committed suicide when he was in his earlt 20s. I read her autobiography and she did not seem to care about him at all. It was sad and i did not find her likeable at all. She was very appealing as Mary Richard's though.
