Some of the co-ed schools get a little "boy heavy" with some parents opting for single sex. There may be certain grades trying to balance out the existing class.

And with more boys than girls diagnosed with ADHD many boy moms think private school will solve all their child’s problems with small class sizes and green space

SAES and other local privates are making room for displaced students from SSFS. Not sure how this will impact their wait list movement.

This is not true for every grade. They told me the grade I asked about was full and I could apply but not really worth application process because already had plenty of families on the waitlist. Not particularly friendly.

You should have your outplacement coordinator reach out. They’ve been very helpful and understanding.

SSFS family here. They implied no room in the grade we asked about but were so nice. They actually recommended we still apply, saying that they don't know what will happen with all the flux this year expected and the know that SSFS has lots of great kids. We felt they were super empathetic and warm.

That’s great to hear because I had the total opposite response. We told the outplacement coordinator and she was not surprised at the response from the particular person. So maybe it depends on who you speak with. St Andrew’s and another popular school that I know many people are applying to, were the only two schools who felt so cold. But I did find that some schools are unresponsive and have not returned calls or emails. Every other school was so gracious and some even willing to open up spots.

St Andrews is know for being friendly you must have had a bad experience or misread.

SAES is not particularly friendly in general.

Are grades 6 and 9 full?

I don’t know if they are taking more for 9th but I heard it’s at 97 kids which I think is their standard give or take a few kids.

Both the current 9th grade and 10th grade are 96 students so I doubt they want to go much above that. But current seniors are 100 so they have done a few more than 96 in the past. There isn’t really a gender disparity in the high school classes that they need to remedy as some suggested above. Current 9th for example has equal numbers of girls and boys. Some of the younger grades are more boy heavy, but that is usually rebalanced for high school.

The current 8th grade is a great group. A mix kids with different interest. It's a fun group. Welcome to St.Andrews. The 8th graders can't wait to meet their new cohorts!
