Valedictorian at our private with 1580 SAT got rejected ED1 at Vandy within last few cycles. |
| I see Vanderbilt as a safety for very rich kids who are decent students. |
Isn't that USC (albeit maybe more semi-decent than decent)? |
Georgetown is GU. |
| I'm so old that when I was college age, Vandy was considered more or less "unmotivated rich kid's school" - I guess it's still for rich kids but they have to try harder to get in now? |
Maybe 20 years ago. It's a different world today. |
A safety with an admit rate below 10 percent? |
USC doesn't even have ED and already 11% acceptance rate and 43% yield. The school actully are full of so called striver kids. Actually, at Vanderbilt a ton of students transfer into Peabody from other schools and do the Human and Organizational Development major. Lots go into business from there. Used to be more of a jock major, but now it seems like everyone there is transferring into it. |
Correct. It's another Wash U. Both fine schools. But this is the role they play in this board game we're playing. |

It’s a trendy thing. The less bright if the crown kids attend—while their smarter sibs attend the Ivy.
The southern thing became big. |
| ^less bright of the celeb sibs |
100% the less bright celebrity kids attend. |
Incorrect. You’ll need to do much more than be a decent student. The bar for stats is interchangeable with Cornell, Brown and Duke. |
Doesn’t Gwyneth Paltrow’s kid go there? |
