Don't feel bad, Penn has the same problem. |
Even more confusing is that The University at Buffalo and Buff State are both part of the SUNY system. |
And the two are worlds apart. They should do something about the names. People get it mixed up on the common app and Fafsa. I’m surprised Buffalo State is still operating. University at Buffalo has many international students. |

Has your child visited or spoken with current students. I’m a Pittsburgh transplant and parent of a recent Pitt grad (now living and working in NoVA). I agree with all the great things pp’s have said about Pitt. My dd had a great experience and met lots of people from outside PA. I would definitely recommend a visit (although not now as it is unusually cold now).
Good luck. I will caveat that if your dc is interested in med school (with a bio major) and finances are a factor, you may want to choose the cheaper school. |
I don't disagree that more out of state students could be a benefit to the SUNY system, but it sounds as if your bias is more specifically against students from the tri-state area, and again you don't say why. If you have the resources to send your kids to private colleges or pay OOS public rates to avoid this unbearable dilemma, it would seem you are of the affluent cohort that considers the SUNY system beneath them. |

For business, it’s $61k. Ugh. |
Buffalo OOS tuition is $30k but room and board is $17k. |
