I've also quit the Washington Post, subscribing no longer. Not paying to watch democracy actually die in darkness. |
The Atlantic has been recruiting WashPo journalists. |
But if said boss was the boss of a “free press,” then yes, I would do that. |
OMG I tried to cancel just now and it wouldn’t let me “Something went wrong and we couldn’t cancel…call us…” LOLOL. I’m definitely going to cancel now! |
Nah, you have a fetish for the likes of Bezos who don’t even know you exist. |
What the fuxx are you blathering about? The whiny B—ch is the person or ppl stifling free speech. Your groveling sycophantic behavior for some billionaire who does t give a crap about you is pathetic. |
Yeah, we had to call. |
I just read the Post article on the Golden Globes.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/movies/2025/01/06/golden-globes-2025-best-moments/ Quote from the article: “Nikki Glaser lightly jabbed the assembled celebs during her opening monologue. “I’m not here to roast you,” the comedian said, leading into one of the few instances where the ceremony got a little political: “And how could I? You’re all so famous, so talented, so powerful. I mean, you could really do anything — except tell the country who to vote for. But it’s okay. You’ll get them next time.”” I watched live and after “you’ll get them next time,” she said “…if there is a next time.” And the Post decided not to include that last bit. Seems trivial but I’m sure this type of thing is happening all over in their articles, in real news articles. Very sad. I’ve read and depended on the Post entire life. |
One doesn't become a billionaire based on feelings. The only feelings that have been shown are the cartoonist's pique and the whiney liberal losers failed attempts at humor. |
I just got a subscription to the Atlantic and have been really enjoying it |
What a dumb cartoon. Business interests cozying up to the newly elected president and trying curry favor by donating to the inauguration? That sounds just like….. all recent presidents. https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/biden-inauguration-corporate-donors-amazon-boeing-google I wonder how this serious journalist covered other recently elected presidents. |
|
… do… you think… the point of this satirical cartoon… is to be funny? Is that, what you believe, is the purpose of this cartoon…? |
It died a long long time ago with the WaPo. |
This isn’t a partisan issue. Or perhaps you think you are part of “team billionaire”. I mean, it’s anonymous here, I suppose you could be a secret billionaire, defending “your people”. Is that it? Are you a billionaire? Because if you are not, you’ve twisted yourself around to defend an owner who’s “pique” about a satirical cartoon lead to censoring criticism. Sure, it’s his prerogative. Certainly someone as intelligent as Mr. Bezos had to know that the paper he had purchased would be reporting, and perhaps even be critical of his business. It’s not easy to take public criticism to be sure. Perhaps having a small prickly oligarchy controlling our media isn’t in any of our best interests. The artist here did a noble thing. She walked away from steady pay on principle . I’m not sure I would have the fortitude. It’s a shame we have a congress full of elected officials that haven’t been able to show that kind of bravery on our behalf. We are where are today because most people shrug and don’t rock the boat. Good for Ann. |
