Haven’t seen this yet, but really want to. |
Please don’t ruin this thread with snobbery. I’ve visited museums all over the world, but we are so lucky to have what we do in DC. The fact that we have so many admission-free museums is SUCH a gift. |

You stole mine! Also tje Pima Air and Space museum. |
I second this. Every year, we buy the Maryland Sci Center membership when it is half price. When traveling, we’ve used it at the Intrepid in NYC (that alone would have cost us more than we paid for the membership), Nauticus in Norfolk, air & space museum in Hampton, Virginia Living Museum, etc. It’s also good at sites in Philly & Pittsburgh. |
I like some of the odd ones like the Merry Go Round museum in OH or the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in CA. There is also the Mutter museum in Philly but you have to be into that. |
I loved the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. |

+1. I’ve traveled a lot and agree that the ones in DC are the best. Also agree with the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes (and all the others in Philly, it’s a great museum town!) and the Art Institute of Chicago. And the WWII Museum in New Orleans is also really special. I’ve been twice and spent a half day both times. |
