Michigan. He also pronounces celery like salary.

So, do the posh people say it?

No but often people trying to sound posh get things wrong.

Well, there you go. Michiganders are known weirdos.

I like to annoy the Michigander in my life by calling it Mac-a-nack instead of Mack-i-naw.

My kids still say Merry Crit-muhs.

I'm not from Michigan. I pronounce these two words the same.

However, I pronounce Aaron quite differently from Erin, and don't get that people think they sound the same.

Your response is really misogynistic, jerk.

The g is like the second a in caramel 😀

Marry is is like Harry, NOT Mary or Merry. Weird.

From Penna.

Michiganders have the most annoying accent in the country.

My Michigan friends even make fun of themselves.

Some regions on the east coast (and maybe midwest?) differentiate between those three vowel sounds. Everywhere I've lived (up and down the west coast), Merry, Mary, and Marry are all pronounced exactly the same.

My husband agrees but I can’t hear it. I say ferry and fairy the same. And I saw Merry and Mary the same too. He does not.

Agree. I am Catholic and I have never heard the "T" in anyone from the US.

I am surprised that in some places "Mary" and "Merry." For those of you, do "hairy" and "berry" rhyme"? I am from the Northeast and and Mary has a long A (like Maid) while Merry has a short E (like Bed).

Yes, hairy and berry rhyme to this Midwesterner.

Many midwesterners also say bed and bad in very similar ways. Dad said like “dyad.”

I haven’t heard any of those.
