Why does Canada feel like it exists 10 years in the past?

And those credit card machines that they bring to your table in a restaurant like the have in Europe and Canada.

I hate seeing the server walk off with my card here.

In NYC a ton of restaurants have those machines now.

Everything from home decor to basic media feels so ancient; We went to three stores with whole sections dedicated to CDs and DVDs. The clothes and fashion was popular in the States years ago. I just feel like I have stepped back in time. It’s even worse in the suburbs. What’s the deal?

Oh no. Not up to date on fashion and decor; how does anyone stand it?

You sound incredibly superficial OP.

Well here's one thing. Toronto is not Canada.

I remember my Aunt from Texas being baffled by the banking options in Canada. Debit cards, tap.. e-transfer??? She couldn't fathomany of it.

I've been to a restaurant in a small city in Canada that had a robotic server.

So have other parts of the US. I remember paying with those machines in Boston prior to the pandemic.

Other parts of the world have had them for many many years, and still here, those machines are not universally available.

I remember someone trying to buy a large screen tv using our credit card number soon after visiting a restaurant in Ohio.

Yeah, Canada has had those machines looong before ‘pre pandemic’. Interesting that the us is so techy but so behind in that aspect.

Parts of Canada had them in 2013.

We were amazed when we went to Disneyland in the early 2000's and couldn't use debit.

It's like the movie Napoleon Dynamite. You don't know quite which era it is...

But THE SHOPPING!
I mean, who cares about a secure a s accessible banking system (which helps shopping, but whatever). Can you even imagine not being able to get the same
Michael Kors or whatever shirt that you can get in DC?

FWIW my circles are moving back to physical media because stuff keeps getting removed from streaming.

The late 90s were the pinnacle of fashion. Everything was so plain and streamlined and practical. I hate a dropped shoulder, but otherwise, we can just keep 90s fashion forever?

They had those in France in the 90s. Maybe they filtered over.

Yeah, now. That’s why I said now. If you’re going to put Canada up against NYC, good luck to you.
