I read Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon on DCUM recommendation and really enjoyed it.
This one has a bit of mythical angle but I enjoyed the details about viking era living in The Weaver and the Witch Queen by Genevieve Gornichec. |

I also love Amitav Ghosh - The Glass Palace is my favorite, but the Ibis trilogy is also good. |
