Is your 9yo (3rd grader) still in a booster seat?

My kids both dropped the booster at 8. Both of my kids are 90% for height and the belt fit properly.

My 5th grader is 4'3" and weighs 53 lbs. She is in a booster and will continue to be in one until she is bigger. We don't use when in uber or if she's carpooling and the family doesn't have an extra booster so we are not 100 percent but as long as we are in our car, she's in the booster. I'd rather be safe than cave on this one.

My similarly sized 5th grader is good in some seats (including the middle row of our minivan) but not others (including the back of our other car). We base it on where the belt path is.

My 5th grader is in a booster as well since the shoulder strap does not hit them in the right place yet. It's close. Now if only their other parent at least kept them in the back seat instead of risking airbag injuries in the front.

My almost 8 yo 2nd grader is all of 38 lbs and 44' is still in a harnessed seat and will be for some time at the rate she is growing.

DS 9 is 5 feet, 85lbs. He sits in a regular seat. All his friends are smaller than he is, I usually have the smallest child is sit in the booster we keep in the trunk. The kids don’t ever comment. It’s just about size and safety.

Same and actually our high back booster is technically just a car seat that converts (we removed the five point harness when she turned 7) so technically the same seat she's been using since end of K.

I just go by what is safest according to her current height and don't even pay attention to what peers are doing. If she complains that all her friends can do XYZ and she can't then I just tell her that's not how we make decisions in our family especially not anything safety related. But she's actually never asked about the booster situation so either her friends are all still in high back boosters or it's not a topic of conversation. No one carpools where we live because most people walk or bike to school and activities here.
