How can a charity bike take over my neighborhood streets?

Op here. Long ago, when we moved too this area, I decided that if the situation happened and I had to make a choice I was going to take out the cyclist rather than have a head-on collision.

Roads do not only exist for cars, and the speed limit is just that - a limit - no one is entitled to travel unfettered and the limit at all times. You live in society and sometimes that means sharing.

I have the same BC my mom had. I've lived with it for years. Sadly the treatment she got (which did not save her life or prolong it successfully in any way) is the exact same treatment I was given. Wearing pink and charity events do not save lives. Nor does much of the money raised go to research. Look it TF up.

Consider stopping instead. Also, archived.

Exactly the kind of response I'd expect from an entitled cyclist. Threaten random anonymous posters.

It's amazing to me how local legislatures pander to you idiots. Absolutely amazing.

Not a cyclist. Reread OP's post and see who is being threatened.

^^I think you need to re-read 12:22 comment a little more carefully. She's not threatening anyone.

The cyclists know exactly what they are doing. They don't care. They even got local governments to pass laws allowing them to ride abreast.

If I had been a distracted soccer mom on the way to a game with her kids and their friends, the results could have been disastrous. Do you think the cyclists would have taken responsibility for the resulting tragedy? Guarantee they would have hidden behind the law like the cowards they are.

The cyclists who were, by your own admission (helpfully bolded above), riding lawfully? Not the 18 wheeler, or you, the distracted driver?

It takes a special kind of idiocy to write that, PP.

We all know that car drivers want to kill us rather than drive slower and here is the written proof.

You folks are beyond hope.

This is exactly why you folks are willing to create hazardous road conditions for everyone else. You are the epitome of gross entitlement.

Were you raised by wolves? Sure seems like it.

I lived on the route of a major marathon and while we could walk across the road between packs, we couldn’t drive. All the side roads were open to local traffic, so I could get in and out if my side-loading driveway.

That being said, the crews were FAST to open the road after the majority were through and made the stragglers run in a “lane” where cars normally parked. That was a well-run marathon, though.

What time is the bike race? I find that a lot of them start at 7 or 8 and the roads are back open by 9 or 10. It’s inconvenient, but you shouldn’t be trapped.

How could this scenario possibly happen unless you tried pass a cyclist when it wasn’t safe to do it? You have to just suck it up and go slow until you can safely pass them. Annoying, but your basic responsibility as a driver. And I find the charity rides annoying but a on collision situation would be 1000% your fault. I hope you’d go to jail for decades.

The crazy ones are the cyclists who create extreme hazardous conditions on dangerous roads.

What dangerous conditions are they creating? I mean, assuming drivers are not being jerks and driving within the conditions.

You are being deliberately obtuse. Very mature of you. No point in trying to reason with someone of your caliber.

You don't have the temperment or judgement to possess the right to operate an automobile.
