Why does my husband insist on a single beer after running, golfing, or yard work?

Runners love beer! It has some carbs, plus the coldness and the carbonation tastes great after a run.

Of course, some people overdo it. I have friends who drink really heavy IPAs or stouts after a run, and I would puke. But a nice, light seasonal beer ... yum.

Why do you care? A single beer isn't going to hurt anyone.

You sound very narcissistic and controlling OP.

On no, a whole extra 50 calories! End of the world! lmao
IPA and hoppy beers = more estrogen mimicking compounds.
Most "light" beers are not even real beers but adjuncts and have rice and HFCS in the wort when brewed and use crappy hops.

Also guessing he uses the activity as an excuse to have one, cause his wife sounds like a controlling narcissistic woman.

Beer has sharp diminishing returns. Nothing tops the first beer. The second beer doesn’t come anywhere close to being as good.

Beer tastes disgusting to me, bitter and gross. But, I’m not your dh so he probably likes it.

After a hard bike ride sometimes I like a beer. Idk why and I thought I was weird.

Insist sure seems like a strong word. He likes a cold beer after activity on a hot day.

My dad was like this. Rarely drank, but every once in a while after mowing the lawn on a sweltering day, would sit down with a cold beer.

The question is, why are you seeing it as a problem?

I assume it’s the sugar in the beer that triggers dopamine? And light beer feels more substantial, which makes it more satisfying after losing a lot of sweat and electrolytes?

Husband and I do the same. But it has to be a super icy cold bottle of beer (not a can or beer out of a cup or glass) and it has to be an especially long ride for it to really "hit". Other times, for reasons unknown to us, the beer just tastes sorta "meh" after a ride and we don't even bother finishing our bottles.

Everyone will lash out at me now because I said "addict", and the behavior will still be addict behavior, especially if he can't go without, gets grouchy when you mention it, etc.

Shut the f ck up. Do you believe everyone should just sit in a dark room and meditate all day.

What do you mean by insist?

I like to have a drink after I do yard work, because the best part of yard work is afterward, when you sit and look at what you've done and mentally pat yourself on the back. A drink goes nicely with that.
