What has helped your constipation?

Anonymous
I have the opposite problem - I'm very regular, but in the days leading up to my period (which is hard to predict these days) I'll have diarrhea/urgent poop. It's really upsetting, especially since I have a job where it isn't always easy to run to the bathroom. I'm about to try going back on the pill to see if consistent hormones alleviates it.

I tried taking metamucil because I read that even though most people use it for constipation, it can also bulk up watery stools, but it just made me have to go to the bathroom even more frequently - even a tiny dose (1-2 capsules).

So sick of this. I want my 30 year old reliable body back! I love everything else about this stage of life, but the health stuff is really tough.

Taking magnesium in the morning
Prunes
Warm pear juice
Eating greens — like collards and kale
Steel cut oatmeal (can add raisins and chia seeds)
Warm prune juice with a tiny bit of butter added
Popcorn
Lettuce
Corn
Lentils

The foods are just part of my regular diet, to prevent issues.
The warm juice acts quickly.

Warm water with lemon juice is also good for digestion — but not great for your teeth.
