I second the suggestion to read "Quiet." I believe there is also a teen version.

I have quiet kids, and I get SO SICK of them being marginalized and called out for it. Society does not prize quiet people, but if everyone were loud, that would be so damn annoying.

She sounds like a great kid. I hope college will help her find her people. In the meantime, maybe add an activity that's a little off the beaten path. Newspaper, garden club, costume clue? A job? (Like an ordinary grocery store job or something.)
