Maybe some people like the dynamic of ODP. It could be less pressure, a better level for their kid, the training schedule or anything. Don't judge because you don't think the level is as good.

For the record, my kids did not play in ODP. Older son plays in the ACC. This isn't my first rodeo, but thank you for educating me.

ODP benefits areas that don't have ECNL, MLS Next or GA leagues. In the DMV, its a supplemental nice-to-have if you need extra ball touches. For us personally the drive wasn't worth it for our players (about 2 hours away). We know players who have been selected for the ODP national team and did quite well playing opponents overseas. Good experience for her, but as others have mentioned more for fun and the experience to play with other players outside of her club.

ODP is for those who are in rec.

IF you're in ECNL, MLS Next or GA you will not be wasting your time with 'extra touches' with ODP. Most likely you will be doing agility training
