Email from Michelle Rhee - What does this mean? PS and Pre-K will be merged?

This is new to me. I thought that ALL preschool program in DC were restricted by income. When I went to the PS office at Seaton Elementary to inquire about the DC preschool programs, they told me the income requirement would preclude us from any of the preschool programs. The person that I spoke to, believe it or not, suggested that only one parent come to the office and make an application. I couldn't believe he actually suggested this, but I told him we still would not meet the income requirement based on only one parent. Which schools in DC do not have any income requirement? Why are the schools all different? I guess it doesn't matter now as we all have a shot for the lotteries now. Hopefully, they will open up more spots in the PS and Pre-K programs.
