| I’ve been going to the Outer Banks for about 20 years and only remember jellyfish from one year. And they were the kind that just floated around/no stinging. Unpleasant to touch for sure but fine to swim. I think it lasted maybe a day or two and they drifted on. I can’t remember any from the past 5-10 years. It’s not something we ever worry about there. |
This simply isn’t true. We’ve visited alot of beaches, especially during the height of summer and earth fall, and rarely had jellies be an issue. Stop fear mongering. |
Hmmmm never been an issue for our vacations. We’ve always had a great time enjoying the ocean there. Love it. You should just stay home if you’re that paranoid about them. |
ChatGPT to the rescue! |
OP complains about seeing jellies every year in NJ, posters respond with southern beaches where we’ve never encountered issues. Yet you keep harping on the warm water bit. Give it a rest, your theory just isn’t translating well to reality. Truth is there are TONS of gorgeous warm water beaches in the south, Caribbean and Mediterranean where stinging jellyfish just aren’t a problem. |
| I go to beaches a little south of NJ (Ocean City, MD and Chincoteague) every year in June or early-mid Sept, and have never seen jellyfish or even heard anyone mention them in those areas. They are, however, present in the Chesapeake Bay. |
| Most years, the jellyfish are not a problem un VA Beach until late July. August and September they usually are numerous. |
But deadly deadly riptides. And under reported |
| Can confirm there are jelly fish in Hilton head in July and August. But never is it many days in a row. Just depends on current. |
