I really love the Northeast in the summer time. Have done multiweek trips to Rhode Island the last few summers and it is perfect.
We also go to OBX in July with extended family....it's miserably hot compared to Rhode Island. Can't even go out in the middle of the days because it's absolutely scorching in OBX. You really do need to get out of the mid-Atlantic during the summer. Or, at the very least, spend a lot of time at the beach or the pool. It's the same thing in NYC - total misery in late June to early September. |
| Love summer! Hot women wear as little clothing as possible, pools are open, prime tennis season, people are enjoying the outdoors. The extreme heat and humidity is difficult but it's better than winter, which is just around the corner. |

I'm surviving, I just wish it would rain. I'll take the heat as long as we get some rain relief periodically. I remember this last summer as well. A very long period with absolutely no rain (about 10 days to a week). I actually watered my plants which I never need to do as they are all established.
Is this the new norm with climate change? |
| ^^10 days to 2 weeks |
| I hate the summer! I love hiking, but it’s not nearly as enjoyable in the heat. |
I like this guy |

The heat and the long, bright days make me so tired.
I woke up at 5am (to run), but 13 hours later I feel ready to go to sleep. The weather and the endless sun just make me feel so drained of energy. I do not understand how anyone's thinks positively of summer weather here. It's like chronic exhaustion. I come alive in the Fall. |
Are you fat? |
|
I do not get all these posts. Are you all morbidly obese? Deranged?
Summer is DC is the best! It's warm, sunny, long days. Swimming, tennis, eating outside. You people are literally nuts. I live for the summer. Fall is nice, but the winter and early spring are cold, wet, dark, and gross. |

I love summer. That's one reason why I moved to Florida. It's pretty hot here but not as hot as it has been up there the last few days. That will be true often in the summer.
It is a bit depressing that I have to stop playing golf until about October but I couldn't play golf in the heat when I lived in NoVa either, so basically part of June, all of July and August, some of September. Once I start playing again here in October I'll play every week until May. |

| I can’t stand it. No, I’m not fat, but I take a medication that makes me heat intolerant. Plus I’m really fair and prefer to stay out of the sun. I’m an educator so I do love not working over the summer, so I’ll give you all that. But give me 40-60° days year round and I’ll be happy. |
I feel like the people who enjoy summer weather in DC are anorexic and emaciated. Or really love bugs with a passion. And probably have a broken sense of smell. All the people running at 5-6am in the summer.... they're not obese. Do you think they're all doing it because it's the only time they can? It's because it's (significantly MORE) miserable the longer one waits. Summer weather is miserable for most people. There's a reason hell is described as hot - because normal people loathe it. |
You should move back, summer heat & humidity makes your attitude worse. We don't need more of those people in DC. |
This. >ALL DAY< No one forced you to move to DC. Yet, you decided to show up. If you are here and don't like it move back. This is what happens when people are desperate to flaunt that they live in a major city but don't really do their homework. |
