| A lot of big clubs do not let their kids play. They are worried that they might see there are better players out there or just find someone they become friends with and switch teams. Its like the boyfriend that doesnt allow his girl go our for girls night. Too insecure and probably not that much to offer in the first place |
Fully agree. It was nuts. Don’t know who coaches picked versus from the east region tournament but looks to me like it was all size, ball hogs, and big kicks and had nothing to do with IQ, skill, or outcomes. I give up on figuring it out. |
| In our younger DD's age group, they extended an even number of invites to the third team, the second team, and the first team. So much for choosing the best players. The quality of soccer was so poor, total joke of a selection process. I’m sure they do it keep participation numbers up (and the $ flowing). Might as well just give out participation trophies. MD ODP has fallen so far. |
Not sure about MD, but VA tries to send even teams to the events. So selections from VA should be even across “VA1” through “VA3.” |
Was this written sober and of sound mind? |
+1. Great program for big and not technological. |
| Technical |
Yes selections from the 2010G ran across all three teams. |
This was not the case for md. I'm not sure what happened but watching a few minutes games where the teams were in the different brackets, Maryland teams by and large felt tiered. |
MD ODP also over loads on 2013s (for $$ I'm sure) but I think if they made a more concerted effort to ID their "youngers", it would give them a PR advantage when for just to U12 year, east region makes an older and younger team. They left many late birth year 2012s of the table in favor of 13/14s.. But, revenue talks. |
MD is not like VA with regions. It is tiered. 2 teams. All ID camp selections were from 1st team for 2010G. Girls selected were most powerful and dominant, not always the best though. |
| At least MD posted the list, VA is always late with everything. Other states also send tiered teams the events. My kid’s team beat a GA2 team and then were crushed by GA1, If I remember correctly. |
Virginia posted the list on their Instagram on Wednesday |
this is the way…. No seriously its a dumb control system. The kids do love the networking and it does allow for kids to plan to olay w eachother. Clubs hide under the guise of injury and it being lesser talent which is far from the truth |
and thats the rub… in ct its thr opposite and very technical which is probably why va/md doesn’t get the love |
