I'm also wondering. What happened that people started fighting in the middle of the day after a ceremony?

A student who wasn’t supposed to graduate came up and grabbed a diploma cover. It wasn’t a big deal and the ceremony went on perfectly fine.

I have to say I feel sorry for teachers. Seems like the Wild West in some MCPS high schools. Why did MCPS think removing all disciplinary measures would somehow improve schools?

Unsure what disciplinary measures you think would help here. It wasn’t a big deal and most people just laughed.

My kids attend Northwood including one that graduated yesterday. It is a great school and was a great ceremony.

At least your graduate will not have to deal with the Woodward mess

My understanding - the same girl who caused a scene/went on stage at Northwood's was also involved in the Kennedy graduation fight.

Mental health issues then? This sounds a bit more extreme than Jerry Springer level beefs.

Correct. It should be a law enforcement issue.

Where is the source for this fight?

I agree but since SS responded will there be a report?

How humiliating for the families involved. Wow.

Shameful

Those DAR graduations are so stressful, even without personal beefs. Between the traffic and the crowding and the rushing and the terrible venue staff. They just bring out the worst in everyone.

SS probably has law enforcement rights in DC.

One and a half-ish more day, folks. Sigh.

Don't be a fool. One girl isn't going around ruining MCPS graduations.

For most people, it is perfectly fine
