Sports are cool and grown men playing video games is for losers.

An adult who calls things "cool" and "for losers" is not to be taken seriously.

It's a way to relax and a social activity. As long as it's not your whole life, I don't see the problem. In another era, people got together to play bridge, pinochle, etc. I think it's the same thing. I've never liked either but I don't think it's weird.

Yeah, I agree OP. I think it's weird too. I wouldn't buy my kids a system. Thankfully, they never asked either.

My friend's husband plays for hours a day and she says "At least he's home and it's stress relief" but I know it drives her crazy that on a beautiful sunny day while she is out enjoying herself with their children he is sitting alone in a dark bedroom.

I have friends whose reality this is every single weekend (both days) September-February during football season. Again, I find it strange that video games are what is being singled out here.

Football games aren't on all night long.

They weren't wrong though. DP

I think more my disdain is for people who are addicted to the detriment of other things. Like taking care of their kids, doing family outings, sleeping late in the mornings because they were up till 3am gaming. Obviously this is not the norm.

How do people find time to do this? Especially those who are parents. I sincerely don’t understand. Do your kids just watch you play video games? Do you play with them?

I also do not understand these manlettes who use video games on a regular basis.

So what’s the difference between people watching TV or playing video games and you reading books? Someone watching a two hour movie, playing video games for 2 hours, reading a book for 2 hours. Not everyone is addicted to these and sit there for hours, they are forms of entertainment.

They are wrong. Nobody is a loser for enjoying video games and no one is cool just for watching sports. It’s a problem IF it becomes an addiction and you’re missing work because of video games or sport betting is out of control where you’re in danger of losing your house.

The irony that you are on here and Reddit all the time yet are mocking their hobby . It’s basically the same…

Playing video games is much more engaging for your brain than watching sports (the national pastime).

It's interesting how you've absorbed previous conventional thinking about which groups are "bad" and which groups are "normal", without applying any critical thinking whatsoever.

I have a friend who always claims that he kids have little to no screen time but that their TV is on all the time tuned to some sports channel. All. The. Time. The kids wake up and turn it on and stay up late to watch. I find it very hypocritical.

"I read on here and Reddit all the time" and you are criticizing how other people waste their time.
