Those count as camo. Were you expecting kids to go to school wearing ghillie suits. ![]() Lots of people wear camo, even here in boring Arlington. It’s not that deep. |
Genuine question -- why did you choose them? What statement are you making when you wear camo? I grew up in rural, southern Virginia, and the people who wore/wear camo there are very much pro-gun. My family is military, and we don't wear camo for fun. |
It was also a fashion trend not that long ago. |
True, but lots of things are fashion trends that a school principal might decide are not appropriate themes for an elementary fashion week. Micro mini shirts, corsets, grills, balaclava/ski mask. Actually, that's a decent Tuesday through Friday line up, after camo. |
“I have a friend who wears camo” 🙄 |
+1 I grew up in GA and camo has a very different connotation. The range rover moms with Lululemon camo leggings don't understand that perspective. |
All of the APS kids wearing camo are probably not from the ‘Merica hunting/military culture. ![]() |
Wait. You think that people in Arlington really don’t wear camo? Hilarious. |
That's the point. |
Did you fail reading comprehension? We're making fun of All these brags about camo - oh I have a $100 pair of camo leggings made in sweat shops. Cool story. |
yall No School Monday. Troll Won. |
This should definitely make it into the School Board agenda. Ban camo spirit days. New flashpoint to see who can out liberal the most progressive amongst us.
And we will ignore the deep reading and math problems to fight about the meaning of pink camo leggings. |
I’m having a hard time keeping up with these goal posts. No one wears camo! Hunters wear camo! Bougie people wear camo! ![]() Spirit days are all kinda weird. Camo Day is hardly the weirdest because many people actually do have camo clothes. Green, pink, whatever. |
It’s surface and not that deep. The kids chose and it’s just a fashion statement. Likely the camp they own doesn’t look like actual camo, it’s colorful and bright. It’s so far removed from its original context that it does not warrant admin stepping in because of kids playing violent games while not wearing camo.
Campbell does a spirit week because they don’t do other holidays and it’s a fun secular way at the end of the school year for the kids to “dress up” and have silly fun and it’s totally optional. OP, you’re an idiot and they’re probably going to cancel the whole thing in the future thanks to sad sacks like you. Sorry your kid got in trouble for playing guns, but stop trying to ruin everything. |
DP. I liked the pattern. That’s the extent of the statement I’m making. JFC not everything is a political/social statement. It’s a pair of pants. |
