Stones are the result of an unhealthy lifestyle.

My 98 year old mother had gallbladder issues when she was in her 40s as did several of her sisters. I did too at the same age. My aunts were all very healthy and lived well in to their 90s. No one was overweight and just for a little more amazing info my 98 year old mom has never had any major medical issues. Her cholesterol has been amazing her whole life and she's on no medication.

Yes, there can be a significant hereditary component.

I can only see this if you were going to live in Antarctica or something.

because it’s an easy surgery and better than ending up in emergency surgery later?

Surgery has a lot more risk than the possibility of surgery.

Surgery has a lot lower risk than gallstone pancreatitis, which has a 15% risk of death on admission. Or did when it happened to me.

Schedule the surgery, OP.

I had gallstone pancreatitis, do not recommend. Definitely best to schedule the surgery, OP, rather than risk an emergency.

What are the main risks of laparoscopic surgery? I thought it was much easier than open surgery?

FYI I asked my surgeon about robotic surgery and he said he could make smaller incisions than the machine. He did and it worked well.
