I know two women like this in real life. They make their own hamburger buns and cereal and pickles. Both have a history of trauma at the hands of their own parents. Both are great moms to a fault. One has an amazing period home and dresses her kids in white clothes that seem like they are from another time. Her Christmas card looks like something from one of those “dress up from the past” photo studios but it … is just their life. Successful husbands, upper middle class. And the two do not know each other. |
Dcum is far more toxic. It’s riddled with internet trolls and judgmental know it alls. TikTok is just like tv basically |
Idk if I think having a carefully curated existence fits into my definition of ‘great mom to a fault’ |
That’s absurd. I would NEVER trust a woman to make either cereal OR paper. I blame their husbands for this nonsense. |
"Tradwife" and all around RWNJ grifter threw in the towel at the ripe old age of 28, at the end of her 5 year year marriage when her Catholic (ha!) husband decided she was fully depreciated. https://unherd.com/2024/05/lauren-southern-the-tradlife-influencer-filled-with-regret/ |
Her account is mostly satire. Hence the head tilt and closed eyes. She isn’t actually a tradwife. |
there have been a lot of articles written and intvs done with her where she is vague about whether she is or its satire. |
lol I find it inspirational, biscuits from scratch Sunday mornings, garden hacks to make your fruits/veggies grow faster, etc... I love it all....I wish I could live on the land like these people. |
Only a man can make cereal. See Kellogg. It wasn't a woman doing that. |
I admire their clarity - I wish they had been around when I was younger. |
Topic’s fine; TikTok is for complete morons though. |
Have you actually ever been on TikTok? I think it’s the most interactive of them all. For example, I follow a dog trainer. He goes live several times a week and he shows you all the techniques he uses with his board and train dogs, in real time. You can actually watch him take a dog from the first few days it arrives through its final days with him (he does board and train). You can ask him questions in the chat and he will answer and also demonstrate with whatever dog he’s working with at the time. And there’s lots of conversation that happens with others in the live chat. As a first time dog owner I’m so glad I found his page, I have used several of his techniques and suggestions on my own dog, including teaching some fun tricks. He’s located in Atlanta, so I’d have no access to him otherwise. That’s just one example. I also follow a SAHM whose content is cooking. She goes live most Friday nights and cooks a meal. Her following is huge so it’s not as easy to interact with her because there’s too many people watching her lives and posting in the comments, but I’ve made several of her recipes. She’s funny and relatable because her husband and two young kids are often in the background carrying on in a very regular and normal way. None of that fake, perfect aesthetic, perfect kids, perfect home nonsense. Sure there’s a toxic and disturbing side of TikTok, just like any other social media site. Not sure why people think that’s the only content. I get why people don’t like social media in general and stay away from it, and for TikTok specifically I get why people are uncomfortable because of the China aspect of it, but some of these criticisms make no sense. |
Why do they all talk so slowly with that weird spacey voice like they are on drugs? It’s like they are not all there |
What an odd thing to get so worked up about |
I am not a tick tocker or #tradwife but I laughed the first time I read and started hearing about it. I love cooking from scratch, baking, my own bread, canning and preserving my own food. I have a lot in common with these women, but I’m not anywhere near the spectrum of being a #tradwife. |
