Except that it’s illegal in this case. Given how many people were impacted, the law says they should’ve provided 60 days notice. There’s already a class action lawsuit.

They must have really been up sh*t’s creek to skip this step.


The lawsuit is in Illinois for alleged violation of Illinois law. Does DC have a similar law?

Okay. But it can only apply and be enforced if the company is a going concern. So it’s debatable if it was even intended to apply to this scenario.

Did a search on the owner, Michael Lavitola. Sounds to me like a Sam Bankman Fried type of swindler. Lavitola pulled a fast one on his woke cult investors and followers, not to mention all of small businesses who provided his inventory. He left them all high and dry. No worries, cause he’s making out like a bandit. Tragic.
