What schools have started offering from the waitlist?

The fact that schools are moving to their waitlist so early… Does it mean that they accepted the wrong students?
Aiming too high in the HS senior class?

Surprised that Duke and Rice are moving….

I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Northwestern WL moving soon. All of the kids they accepted in regular decision from our HS got HYPSM offers. No one took the Northwestern offers in the end….

Meanwhile, they dinged or WL kids with real interest….looks the same at Michigan and Duke.

For those who have older kids, is this timeline and waitlist movement typical of previous years? Nothing seems normal about this year's admissions cycle, but I have nothing to compare it to.

If you look on college confidential, it is not normal for Rice or Duke to go to the waitlist this early.

Based on the acceptances at our private, I think a lot of schools accepted in RD the same 10 to 12 kids per graduating class

Any news on Vanderbilt or Emory?
If both are moving to waitlist early - then for sure, there is a problem

I'm guessing kids don't know their aid situation and aren't committing.

But if they go to WL before kids accept due to aid, don’t they risk over-enrollment and housing shortages?

I think a lot of people went for state schools like Georgia/UT/Michigan/UN and these schools can take in a lot of students. I am hearing a lot of top students doing this because these schools are gaining in prestige. I am also sure there will be happy people getting calls from Duke/Rice.

No regrets (although that would have been a slam dunk if it came in March).

CNU? What's that? And did you take the spot?

Christopher Newport?

CNU is Christopher Newport University. We did NOT take the spot. Went with a medium-sized Jesuit school that offered an aid package similar to the price of CNU for us (in state).

If that is true then maybe it makes sense that students who may have gone to Duke/Rice went to a school like Michigan. These are all great schools FYI. It is interesting to think that schools like Duke usually compete for Harvard etc but maybe it is some of these schools compete with a big state for a kid who thinks well if I don’t get Duke I will go to my state school.

I think some of these Ivies might be moving to their waitlist. I’d imagine Columbia /Barnard being the first.
